Jim posted a cool photo to the facebook page for Vintage Road Racing Archive, and brought up a mild debate... who were real race car drivers among known actors from Hollywood?

And let me start by saying in no particular order, with the reason that they were known to race cars on tracks, or events that consisted of planned courses recognized as serious racing. ( Baja for example, or dry lakes)

James Garner
Steve McQueen
Paul Newman
James Brolin
Patrick Dempsey
James Dean
Dick Smothers
Eric Bana
Bruce Jenner (IMSA GTO win at Sebring for Roush)
and Tommy Ivo

the most expensive filmed scene in silent film history

"This shot is the most expensive shot in silent film history. It was filmed in a single take, that had to be perfect, with a real train and a ‘dummy’ engineer (notice the white arm hanging out the conductors window).

Promotional event for the film "Desert Rats." Taken on Times Square in New York City on May 10, 1953 by Peter Jingeleski

Marc knows quite a lot about this plane, and shared in the comments that it was the 1st to go round the world with in-flight refueling, and the wings were damaged so badly during a landing that they were removed

Make what you can of this, but that very fuselage, or one just like it named the Lucky Lady, is at the Planes of Fame museum in Chino. http://justacarguy.blogspot.com/2013/06/a-quick-look-at-planes-of-fame-museum.html
