Ram Truck Roundup.. shooting to break the world record for the largest parade of trucks

ATT Stadium in Arlington, Texas, on Saturday, April 18.

That’s the day that Ram Truck will attempt to break the Guinness World Record for the Largest Parade of Pickup Trucks. The “Ram Truck Round-Up” will coincide with the 50th anniversary of the Academy of Country Music Awards, and parade participants will also receive two tickets to the ACM Party For A Cause Festival that evening.

The full two-day ACM Party For A Cause Festival will feature an unprecedented lineup of performers, including:
 Dierks Bentley,
Clint Black,
Luke Bryan,
Kenny Chesney,
Sam Hunt,
Miranda Lambert,
Patty Loveless,
Ronnie Milsap,
Darius Rucker,
Dwight Yoakam,
Alabama,
Eli Young Band,
Florida Georgia Line, and more!

Other partners expected to be in attendance will include Bosch Power Tools, Mossy Oak, Tucker Hibbert, Ram Rodeo, and Drury Outdoor. Those companies will offer giveaways to the first 100 participants to check into the event on Saturday morning, but all 500 Ram owners will have access to special perks from the partners. It sounds like it’s going to be a lot of fun.

Given that the event is essentially free (if you show up and get your deposit refunded), participating seems like a no-brainer, especially since you’ll get your name and your truck attached to a Guinness World Record

Not many people have been driving for over 30 years, fewer have been truckers... and they have wisdom to share. Sandi is 71 years old.

Found on http://www.livetrucking.com/71-year-old-female-truck-driver-that-hauls-bombs-gives-her-advice-on-making-it-in-the-industry/

This article brought to my attention a website for women in trucking  http://www.realwomenintrucking.com/

which I browsed and read an article http://therumpus.net/2009/09/the-rumpus-interview-with-trucker-desiree/  by Claire who interviewed Desiree who mentioned how rough and shitty it is on the roads and truck stops: "I had someone get my door open one night, but I had the seatbelts strapping [the doors] down so they left."

Desiree has her own blog and lets the outside world get a full understanding of truck drivers work conditions and the shortcomings of corporate rules versus drivers realities. http://truckerdesiree.com/

Such as "shipper and receiver facilities atmosphere that cultivates animosity toward truck drivers."

Respondents to the truck parking survey occasionally included observations that once their trailer was loaded or unloaded, they were expected to leave the property regardless of area safe parking conditions or their HOS. These same facilities enforce strict appointment times and often detain truck drivers well past scheduled appointments.

Mentioning the names of the shippers and receivers is a sensitive topic as many drivers fear retaliation for doing so. 2059 respondents skipped the “naming names” section in the national truck parking survey. Out of over 1800 respondents who did have the courage to answer question 35, Walmart was mentioned 1048 times as one of the worst."  http://truckerdesiree.com/2014/06/15/walmart-crash-hours-of-service-and-truck-parking/

Did you hear of the Saudi Syclones? Didn't sell so they shipped them back to GM, who then sold them by lotto to GM employees

Similar to the GN these turbo charged V6 all wheel drive beasts spanked everything around when they rolled out of GM in 1991. Even the Vette lost.

They only made 2,995 trucks, and Car and Driver recorded it's 0-60mph sprint time of 4.3 seconds - quicker than any Ferrari or Corvette available. 113 of the 2,995 Syclone trucks were shipped out of the country as export sales. 31 of those export sales were returned unsold from Saudi Arabia to the GMC facility in Pontiac, Michigan. These were referred to as the "Saudi" Syclones. 30 were sold at lottery to GMC employees and one was used for parts.

and it only sold for 17 thou at auction
