Duesenburg size comparison, they were impressive in many respects

Steve (who is the most incredible researcher!) found out the story on the photo shoot, and the story of the Duesy

the small car is a 1934 DKW F2 Meisterklasse 701

The Duesenberg was originally a 7-seater limousine, coachwork by Willoughby, engine #J-263 (below, as purchased), and was one of two Duesenbergs imported to Sweden in 1930, where it was bought by publisher Erik Åkerlund on February 18, 1930, who promptly took it to the Concours d'Elegance competition at Cannes, then on to Paris where he had the original body was replaced with a 2-door coupe body by Figoni et Falaschi.

Found on https://www.facebook.com/dave.mitchell.7106?fref=nf

The photos with the DKW were taken after taken Åkerlund sold the Duesenberg. The rest of the photos are from Issue #2/1968 of Autohistorica, the Swedish Historic Automobile Club quarterly

the transition of the steam pumper from horse drawn to front drive, to the modern vehicle version

from horse drawn above, to the motor driven below

I've posted all of these in the past at different times, but though that's great for citing sources, it's lousy at a comprehensive comparison / contrast  post

Great big 1916 Pierce Arrow touring cars at the Arizona Concours

Though both of these Pierce Arrows are 1916, they have different color tires. Just noticing.

notice that this dashboard and it's gauges are the same as the one below, just not restored, and it makes quite a difference visually. I find a comparison like this remarkable.

from Monte Carlo. Not every day you see a legit world traveling 1916 automobile
