best damn car story you'll read for a while, the GTO Judge that Brad's brother in law had, and Brad has been infatuated with, for about 40 years

Russ bought the GTO, a Judge with a RA-III 400 and a four-speed transmission, brand new and put on 72 thousand miles until the clutch blew. Into the barn it went, and Russ visited it every year when he spent the summer helping out with the wheat harvest. Haven't we all been crazy over a car, and just went to look at it? Just staring and hoping.

20 years went by as mice and cats took over the interior.

Brad tried to buy, offered to restore it, and his brother in law steadfastly refused to let him do anything with it.

Brad didn't give up, but it was clear his brother in law couldn't bear to part with the Ram Air III Judge. Then, their family connection, his sister died.

You'd figure that would be the end of Brad's tenuous thread to the goat, but it was his sister's dying wish that her husband give up the car to her brother who has been patient and passionate about it for 20 years while it deteriorated.

So Russ finally gave up. But Brad wouldn't take the car. He would only buy it, restore it, leave it with Russ for the summer, and then - take over care of it after Russ had a full summer of car shows and cruises that he's been wanting to do for 2 decades while his goat slumbered in the barn.

Ain't that the coolest? I wanna buy both of them a beer.

probably the coolest thing you can buy for your garage, except maybe a fridge full of beer

building what you want, from what you can find... commendable, and this mini dozer from a lawn mowing Cub Cadet is great

They were built by International Harvester, but they also had about 101 other attachments. They were over-engineered to the point of being indestructible. Cast iron Kohler engines, cast iron transaxles, and very little plastic makes them highly desirable now.

The even number Cub Cadet models were mechanically driven, the odd numbers were hydros.

Dan took his circa 1963 Cub Cadet 100 and decided it would make a sweet crawler tractor. It looks like something the factory would have turned out. He had to make clutches and controls to steer this baby, just like the early Caterpillar tractors.

the English steam locomotive that got revenge and killed the German fighter pilot that shot it

On the morning of 27 November 1942 Charles Gilbert in Tank Engine No.2365 was travelling towards Lydd at a sedate pace of 25mph when Heinz Bierwirth banked his aircraft and dived towards it.

Shells and bullets poured into the engine, steam shot into the footplate area, badly scalding the fireman. The pressure blew the locomotive boiler apart, it tore away the chimney, dome and safety valves.

A cannon shell from the ‘plane burst the D3’s boiler just at the precise moment the boiler exploded Heinz Bierman’s aircraft was passing overhead 20 feet above. The plane crashed, the pilot was killed whilst the train and driver survived! The explosion was so powerful the dome landed in a field 100 metres away and a portion of the top rim of the chimney almost a quarter of a mile.

Tank Engine No.2365 got it’s revenge on the Focke Wulf for the terrible damage it had suffered.

The dome landed in a field 100 metres away.  it propelled a portion of the top rim of the chimney almost a quarter of a mile.

An eyewitness saw the pilot, still in his seat, fall into a nearby field. Heinz Bierwirth was buried with military honours at Hawkinge Cemetery A local newspaper reported that it was the New Romney line’s most famous day when a train brought down an enemy fighter!

Good news story of the week, finally, a pilot and co-pilot on an airline are a father - daughter team... way cool

The dad-and-daughter duo, both pilots for American Airlines, had the opportunity to fly together Wednesday for the first time as First Officer and Captain. The flight was from Chicago to Dallas and then on to Orange County.

"It also marked the one-year anniversary since I've joined American," said Jen Byrne.

remarkable Jeep test drive course installed in Vancouver

http://www.jeep.com/en/cherokee-the-detour/

River in the City –

Fast Facts: 1,000,000 pounds of boulders, rocks and sand (2500 sand bags), used throughout the set to break up water flow and give surface disturbance;

Water (250,000 gallons) was pumped onto the street with water pumps hidden in the alley and placed in key spots. (The water was recycled using a closed water system that pumped water from the end of the street back to the top. The water was eventually discharged down the street, into Vancouver Harbor.);

400,000 pounds of snow – the snowbank was made of snow blanket and fish-ice; Logs, sticks, moss, and 80 fir/hemlock trees lined/covered the street. (The trees were boxed and returned to the nursery and boulders, gravel and other materials were also repurposed.);

 and Two wolves were on set. (The domesticated, mixed-breed wolves were made available from the Animal Insight for Film and TV. A representative from the American Humane Association was on set to attest that the wolves were treated humanely and procedures were followed. Observers were able to take pictures with the animals.)

The Blastolene Brothers B 702

the B 702 from the Blastolene Brothers. You may never see a custom creation this damn gorgeous ever again. Barris (though a great business man) never made anything this flat out pretty, Roth never made anything this suave, D'Agostino never pulled off something this elegant. The grill is made of glass panes. The headlights are a rare 1920's brand named Wood Lite

I've posted all these photos before, all from different sources, this is just a post to put them all together and sum up the full effect

The top image is new, it's from http://darkdraggon.tumblr.com/
